Sprinter Vans make a perfect vehicle for anyone who requires special accommodations for handicap or mobility type conversions.
First of all, it’s the safest full size van you can purchase. It has many Mercedes-Benz safety features built right in. Things like Stability Control to make sure if you have to make an evasive maneuver the van will maintain control and allow you to keep going down the road.
Sprinter vans have – Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) All Wheels, Brake Assist (BAS), ESP/ESR (Electronic Stability Program), Three-point Seat Belts for Driver and Front Passenger, Driver and Passenger Airbags, Daytime Running Lamps, Keyless Entry (Remote Lock & Unlock), Anti-theft Alarm System and much more.
The Sprinter van has the largest door openings of any full size van on the market. Here are the specs for the side and rear door openings.
On the standard roof Sprinter van, Side Door Opening Height 59.8 inches and Width 51.2 inches, Rear Door opening Height 60.6 inches and Width 61.6 inches.
On the High Roof Sprinter Van, Side Door Opening Height 71.7 inches and Width 51.2 inches, Rear Door opening Height 72.4 inches and Width 61.6 inches.
So as you can see, with our Best in Class Sprinter Van you will be able to easily navigate in and out with the large side and rear door openings.
Another advantage you will appreciate with the Sprinter van is the higher roof gives you much more visibility through the windows. Many of my current Sprinter owners have commented to me that while sitting in their wheelchair in the van, that this is the first time they have been able to really see out the side windows. It has made riding in the van something you will get much enjoyment from.
We have built over 20 Sprinter vans with wheel chair or mobility accommodations in the past 5 years. We have used both the standard roof and high roof vans, and both the short 144″ wheelbase and the longer 170″ wheelbase models. Also we can use either a Mercedes-Benz factory passenger van or start with a cargo van and have a custom interior built just to your specs.
Some folks have wanted a rear door wheel chair lift while most use a side entry. On the side entry we have units that have the under floor type of lift or different makes of side door lifts to fit your needs.
Most of our work to build these vans for our clients have been with Austin Mobility here in Pflugerville Texas, just down the road from our Mercedes-Benz Dealership. They offer many different products and are ready to assist you in choosing the correct build for your needs. Here is their contact info.

Sprinter vans that we have converted with wheel chair lifts run in a range of $55,000 to $75,000 including the lift. The Sprinter passenger van that we use in most cases will cost between $45,000 to $55,000 plus the cost to convert. We can still maintain additional seating for 6 to 10 in addition to the area set up for your wheel chair depending on which size Sprinter van we use. We can install power sliding side door mechanism with remote controls if needed. I have had some Sprinter vans with dual sliding doors built for customers.
If you live in Texas, we can assist you in getting the entire purchase sales tax exempt with a form signed by your Doctor. In addition to this, Mercedes-Benz will send you a $1500 check once the van has been converted as a Mobility Incentive. We also have financing available through Mercedes-Benz finance and in some cases can include the costs to convert the van to your custom specs.
Here are some pictures of vans we have built for our customers. Let me know what questions you may have and what I can do to assist you.
